Abstract: The synthesis of mesoporous molecular sieve (MMS) by ultrasonic method was investigated under different ultrasonic power and time. The resultant samples were characterized through measurements of XRD, SEM, TEM, IR, TG, and N2 adsorption isotherm. Nanometer mesoporous silica analogous to the hexagonal MCM-41 could be obtained over a range of irradiation power above 200 W within short synthesis time (20 min) and a quiescent time (5 h). The samples have larger BET surface area and thicker pore wall while its pore size and pore volume are similar to that obtained without ultrasonic. The crystallinity of MMS increase and the size of unit cell reduce as the increasing of ultrasonic power and time. The yield of products increases with the increasing of ultrasonic power. Therefore, ultrasonic irradiation synthesis is a way to save time and energy in preparation of the mesoporous molecular sieve.
