Abstract: Precursors of the type Na0.60[MgxCoyMn1-x-y]O2 were prepared by solid state reaction of Na2CO3 and the composite metal oxides, then the layered materials of Li0.60[MgxCoyMn1-x-y]O2 were obtained by ion-exchange. It was shown by XRD that both the stoichiometric ratio of Na2CO3 to the composite metal oxides and the dopant content have strong influences on the structures of the precursors. In the case of Mg dopant, the structure of Na0.60[MgxMn1-x]O2 was affected by the Mg content. Layered P2 structure was obtained when x=0.05, while both P2 and orthorhombic structures were obtained when x≥ 0.10. For the compounds of Na0.60[MgxCoyMn1-x-y]O2(x=0.05, 0.05 ≤y≤ 0.20), which have two metal dopants, the Co content has different effects on the structure. Both P2 and P3 layered structures were generated with low content of Co (y=0.05). With the increase of Co content, the intensity of the diffraction peaks of P3 structure decreased, while those of P2 increased. Pure P2 structure was obtained at y=0.20. SEM studies showed that the materials of Li0.60[MgxCoyMn1-x-y]O2 possess plate or bar-like morphology.
