Abstract: The precursors of LiCo0.8Ni0.2O2 cathode material for lithium-ion batteries were prepared from lithium hydrox-ide, cobalt acetate, nickel acetate and oxalic acid by the method of low-heating solid-state reaction. The LiCo0.8Ni0.2O2 samples were obtained by sintering the precursors at different temperatures for 12h. Their structures and morphologies were characterized by powder XRD and SEM techniques, and their physico-chemical parameters such as specific areas, particle size distributions and diffusion coefficients were measured by BET method, laser scattering technique and galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT), respectively. SEM photographs show that the samples are made up of the irregular porous granules, which are conglobated by many small spherical crystals. This is beneficial for electrolyte diffusing into the granules of the samples. Electrochemical tests show that the samples obtained in the sintering temperature range from 700℃ to 800℃ exhibit excellent electrochemical properties. |
