Abstract: The 2-D coordination polymer network containing fluoroquinolone ligand, {[Cu(L)(bipy)](C2H5OH)(5H2O)}n, was synthesized and its crystal structure was solved. The formula of the complex is C30H40N5FO11Cu and the crystallography data are as follows, monoclinic, space group P21/c(No.14),a=11.937(3)Å,b=10.555(3)Å,c=25.293(9)Å,β =98.82(3)°, V= 3148(1)Å3 and Z=4. Two carboxylate groups monodentately bind to copper atoms and the 4-oxo group is linked to copper atom. The Cu ion displays a distorted square-pyramidal coordination and its coordination number is five.
