Abstract: The graphite intercalation compound AlCl3-GIC has been prepared by electrolytic method in MAlCl4 melt salt with graphite anode stainless steel cathode. The electrode reaction equation in the electrolytic process can be written as. nC+M+AlCl4-→CnAlCl3+1/2Cl2+M,where the number n of carbon atom is inversely proportional to quantity of electricity passed(n=23.9~14.2). Mean composition and structure of the electrolytic products at various condition were measured by chemical analysis and X-ray powder diffraction. The possibility and the behavior of AlCl3-GIC as positive electrodc of Li cell were investigated by typical voltammetric curve and discharge test in 1.5mol·1-1LiAlCl4-propylene carbonate(PC). |
