| Abstract: The phosphors MMgF4(M=Ca,Sr,Ba) doped with samarium ions were synthesized in H2 steam,Ar steam and in air,respectively.Reaction conditions affect the valency of samarium ions.When the samples were synthesized in H2 steam,the emission spectrum of Sm2+ ions were observed in BaMgF4;the emission spectra of both Sm2+ and Sm3+ ions were observed in SrMgF4,but only the emission of Sm3+ ions was observed in CaMgF4.Experiments indicate that the stability of divalent samarium ions has bearing on the compositions of matrixes,it is to say that the radius and the ratio of charge-radius of substituted cations are very important factors to affect the variety of valency of samarium ions. |
