Abstract: A new type of polymetalatosilicate which contains three different metals-tungsten,molybdenum and vanadium-has been prepared. The compound β-Na9[HSiW9O34]·23H2O which has vacant addend sites was first prepared by the reaction of Na2WO4·2H2O and Na2SiO3·9H2O. Then appropriate amounts of molybdate and vanadate were added to form products of precise Keggin structure. Two new tungstomolybdovanado-silicate compounds were obtained,and elemental analysis gave their composition as: (TBA)4[HSiW9Mo2VO40] and (TBA)4 [H2SiW9MoV2O40] (TBA stands for tetrabutylammonium). The IR spectra of both compounds are similar to that of the well-known β-(TBA)4[SiW9Mo3O40], so they are theβ-isomer of Keggin structure. In solid state due to the action of the complex anion, the cation TBA of the compound is somewhat deformed and as a result the C-N bond is weakened. The change of frequency of the C-N bond indicated that β-(TBA)4[H2SiW9MoV2O40] and β-(TBA)4[H3SiW9V3O40] are acidic salts. The results of X-ray diffraction and TG studies revealed that the heteropolymetalatosilicate has geometric isomer.
