| Abstract: It has been reported here that thorium nitrate reacted with 3,6-di-(dimethylamino)-dibenzopyriodonium nitrate in methanol to produce 3,6-di-(dimethylamino)-dibenzopyriodonium thorium hexanitrate. We have studied its properties by use of IR, TGA, DSC, UV,1H-NMR and X-ray powder diffraction etc. IR differences between the new compound and (NH4)2Th(NO3)6, Cs2Th(NO3)6, have been compared and the position of the ligand NO3- in new compound has also been discussed. The new compound is sensitive to heat and light, easily changing to violet colour. |
